The Board

Dr Peter Hughes
Managing Director and CEO
Peter Hughes has had over 25 years of extensive international business experience in the development and management of complex, multi-faceted business functions and large scale organisations. Peter has held line management responsibilities in both publicly listed and private enterprises, and has previously initialised and founded a global health operating division for a major Australian public company. Peter is a globally recognised expert in the design, development and operation of primary, sub-acute and acute healthcare systems and infrastructure and is a sought after speaker and educator who holds undergraduate degrees in both environmental science and architecture and post graduate qualifications including an MBA and a DBA.
Peter is the primary Founder of the business and will develop and implement the organisational strategy and assume the lead operational role (non-clinical) in the implementation and deployment of the Kikada Lane Dental support services offerings.
Senior Management

Carl Burroughs
Marketing Director
Carl Burroughs has been at the forefront of dental business development in Australia since his entry into the profession in 2001. His marketing company Integrated Dental Marketing (IDM) has helped hundreds of dental practices achieve their goals through proactive marketing plans. Carl has personally advised many of the dental corporations and was one of the original founders of Dental Partners (now Maven Dental) in 2007. Carl and his team at IDM also assist many dental supply companies to promote their products and services to the profession.
Carl is the founder of Marketing Dentistry Institute, which has presented world-renowned speakers such as Dr Bill Dorfman, Dr Howard Farran, Dr Mark Costes and others. Plus today, Carl also owns his own dental practices, which he uses to test new marketing strategies in a real-world environment. In 2016 Carl’s practice in Queensland grew by an astonishing 200% in the face of stiff competition and a saturated local marketplace.
Carl is a columnist for Australasian Dentist magazine and has authored over 80 papers on the topic of dental marketing and practice management as well as ghost writing for others within the profession.

Mr Grant Barr
Chief Financial Officer
Grant is a qualified CPA with over 25 years of commercially focused experience across a range of industry sectors, including Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, FMCG, Mining and, most recently Education. He brings a range of strategic, financial and process management skills to help deliver operational success with the Kikada Lane team.
Grant has recently worked in a consulting capacity for a small number of SME clients, undertaking work such as business reporting dashboards, implementing accounting systems for client offshore subsidiary businesses, developing consolidated reporting packages and developing product costing models for small manufacturers.
Along with ongoing consulting with SME clients, Grant was working with RMIT University in an advisory capacity, undertaking analytical reviews of the organisation to highlight course profitability via an activity based model. This work is used by the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors and Deans of Colleges to ensure that the strategic objectives of the University are being met.
Prior to this for a short period he held a Financial Controller role with HiChem Paint Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rust-Oleum LLC in the USA. He left this organisation in 2015 to pursue some personal sporting goals.
Grant spent from 2011 to 2014 working for a small FMCG company, Patons Macadamia’s, where he was the head of finance, IT and administration. In this role he undertook the due diligence and subsequent acquisition of a competitor along with the implementation of a new business management system.
From 2006 to 2010 Grant was the Asia Pacific Financial Controller for Linatex Australia, a manufacturer of mining equipment. Linatex offered him the opportunity to manage both Australian and Chinese finance teams. This role posed some significant cash flow management challenges with the organisation growing by 268% from 2006 to 2010, at which time it was acquired by a larger global competitor.
From graduation to 2006 Grant has held senior roles in a number of organisations from Cadbury Schweppes (FMCG) to Amoco Australia (Oil & Gas), Horwath & Horwath (chartered accounting) and Shell.

Kelli Hughes
Director of Operations & Human Resources
Kelli Hughes is a highly experienced Operations and HR professional who has worked in Australia and the UK. Kelli worked in recruitment for many years in a large Melbourne based entity, before forming a number of her own recruitment and HR advisory entities including Kelete Pty Ltd and People in Practice which specialises in the Health Services area. Kelli was the Senior HR Advisor for a major Corporate Dental aggregator who authored and established the entire human resources platform that allowed the business to operate successfully. More recently, Kelli has transformed the operations of an independent tertiary education provider.
Kelli will oversee and provide operational and HR advisory services to Kikada Lane, from managing contractual compliance (employment contracts, policies and procedures) through to practice improvement via educational training and dental accreditation. Kelli will ensure your practice transitions appropriately, and will provide high levels of support in all back office operational and administrative functional areas with an emphasis on reporting and key staffing matters. One of Kelli’s primary focus areas is to cultivate excellence through maximising an individual’s potential and creating happy safe workplaces.
Clinical Advisory Committee
Kikada Lane Dental will establish a Clinical Advisory Committee to provide advice to the Board on clinical practice, advancements in treatment and technology, training and education and patient growth opportunities.
